So, every morning after I meditate I read a short story from Melody Beattie's book "Journey to the Heart", she has written a few wonderful words for every day of the year, this was today's!

"May 19

Don't be afraid of making mistakes

Don't be afraid of making a mistake. That energy can create more mistakes. It can stop us from enjoying what we're doing. It can block us from creating freely and making something beautiful.

Sometimes its necessary and important to make mistakes, to fumble around and do something poorly so we can learn to do it better next time. No matter what we're doing or what we're learning, we have to start somewhere. Look back at the past. We learned by trying, stumbling, falling, getting back up, and trying again. But we wouldn't be where we're at if we hadn't begun where we were.

Jump in, begin, and do the task as best as you can. Stop worrying about mistakes, and let yourself do it as well as you can right now. If you do it wrong or poorly you can do it over again. And when you do it in an attitude of love, you won't fail. You'll learn something new about yourself, life and the task.

Love yourself enough to try. Let yourself make mistakes. Tell yourself you don't have to do it perfectly. Let yourself have fun while you're learning. Start where you are, and do what you can. Learning and gettting better will happen from there".

After reading this short story, I published something I have been working on for a while...My Website!!! I have been wanting to explore my creative side for a while now and writing seemed to be the answer. So when hubby suggested I write a 'blog' (ummm ok, not quite sure what it is, what it does etc but, ok i'll give it go). I jumped in with both feet and got to work on it (with hubby's help).

So, after puttting my taxi and shopping hats on this morning, I thought i'd take a peak at what my beautiful website looked like on my phone. Ooooops i've made a booboo! It didn't look anything like it did on my laptop. Oh ok... you have to set the phone up separately. Oh well it's a bit late now I've published it, i'll have to set it up later.

I've gained skills today and I believe these projects I am experimenting with, are a direct result of my Yoga practice. I have reacted to this mistake with compassion and humour which are both qualities I use on my mat. The story above says "let yourself have fun whilst your learning" that is what I am doing. Life, I believe now is something to be creative with not to be afraid of. "Stumbling, falling, getting back up and trying again" are all things that happen on my mat and today I am practising them off my mat. I have made a blunder with my website and I am going to have fun fixing it. I am going to show myself love and compassion which are both balanced characteristics of Anahata Chakra, and get the job done. I have gained a valuable lesson today to 'go for it, have fun and make mistakes as it's the only way to learn'!

My affirmation for today is "I am loving to myself".
